Jim Eichhorst can sum up an important part of his Illini experience in two words.
Cheap. Bear.
“One memory that stands out is King Kan night at the Round Robyn Bar on Sixth Street,” says Maryland state director of the Farm Service Agency. “Poor students like me flocked to RR for really cheap — I think they were a buck — 32-ounce cans of Miller Lite. The only thing that rivaled that was the $1.75 pitchers at Garcia’s on weeknights.
“I had a speech comm class on Monday nights and it’s rumored that some of us hit that happy hour prior to class more than once.
“Despite all the inexpensive fun, I managed to learn and thrive at Illinois.”
