Roger Hacker

Corporate comm. director | San Francisco 49ers | Class of 2000

For Roger Hacker, the road to 4900 Marie De Bartolo Way in the Bay Area started at 1700 South Fourth Street in Champaign.

That's home to the Bielfeldt Athletic Administration Building and the UI sports information department, where Hacker learned a thing or three that helped him get to the NFL in short order.

“I got the professional opportunity of my lifetime working for Dave Johnson, Marty Kaufmann and the gang in the U of I sports info office and will forever be drawing on the lessons I learned working in that office," says Hacker, now the director of corporate communications for the San Francisco 49ers.

Another favorite former spot: Forbes 3 South, the dorm Hacker ('00) called home as a freshman and sophomore.

"Whether it was any random activity that led to making new friends or staying up late playing NBA Live tournaments on Sega Genesis, I made some great friends to start my experience at the U of I," he says.

“I was sorry to see that dorm has been replaced recently."
