An Illini love story, UI Quad edition:
“The one spot on campus that I think about when I recall my days at Illinois is the Eternal Flame on the Quad,” says St. Louis attorney Aleksandra Rushing (BS ’12, JD ’15). “My husband, Chad Rushing, and I are both double Illini and during my second year of law school I went back to my apartment to find a note from my then-boyfriend and now-husband.
“This note led to several places on campus, finally leading to the Eternal Flame on the Quad. It was December 15, 2013 and nobody was on the Quad because it was in the midst of finals and extremely cold.
“As I dug in the snow for my next clue, my now-husband came around the corner and got down on one knee — just as snow began to fall — and asked me to marry him.
“The University of Illinois will forever be part of our love story, and we would not have it any other way.”
