Most of Bob Sarkar’s happiest memories of his time at the UI feature a certain special someone, front and center.
"Many a time, my wife and I used to meet up at the Illini Union — Serendipity Cafe — or Krannert Center for lunch. Sometimes, we brought our little ones to join us. We still talk about those sweet experiences on campus," says the Arkansas Health Network CEO, who earned his MBA at Illinois.
"Another place where we spent a lot of enjoyable time for several social events was the Channing Murray building. The Nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore, gave his first public speech in the USA at the Unitarian church/Channing Murray building about 100 years back. Due to this historical association, this building has been designated as a national heritage site.
"All said and done, I feel honored and privileged to be an alum of UIUC. I cherish its rich heritage, intellect-driven milieu and the life-enriching as well as academic education that it has provided me with."
