The first stop on Adam Hecktman's trip down Illini memory lane is the Quad — specifically in the springtime.
"The Quad was more than a shared space or a way to get from one building to the next," says Microsoft's director of technology and civic innovation for Chicago, a 1988 graduate of the College of Business.
"It was, at the time, the center for civic activity. From angry preachers to student activists to just about every political stripe you can think of, it was a place for articulating — shouting? — positions on topics of the day."
