When Blake Mathias set out to be a university professor himself, he took a page out of a mentor’s playbook.
“Alfred Ivy III had a profound impact on my life. A speech communications instructor, Ivy, brought an incredible energy and excitement to the classroom that I still remember nearly 20 years later,” Mathias (BA ’06, finance/speech communication) says from Bloomington, Ind., where he’s an assistant professor of entrepreneurship at Indiana’s Kelley School of Business.
“He convinced me, begrudgingly at the time, to pursue a degree in speech, thus adding a third degree to my undergrad program.
“I strive to bring the same amount of enthusiasm to the classroom as I teach entrepreneurship at Indiana University or speak at events and conferences.”
