Having a couple of Illini for parents comes with its advantages.
“I remember tailgate parties with my parents and friends in the parking lot east of IMPE before each of the Illini home games. Each week, they would bring bountiful amounts of chicken and all of the sides and my friends would all partake in the bounty,” says Bruce Boruszak (BS ’79, accounting), executive VP and general counsel at Pine Tree Commercial Realty in Northbrook.
“My parents are both Illini, so they enjoyed as much as we did.
“Unfortunately, I was at the U of I during the (Bob) Blackman and (Gary) Moeller years, so we did not get to cheer on many victories, but those came right after I graduated with the hiring of Mike White followed by John Mackovic. So many exciting games.
“My Dad is gone now, but this is one of many memories that I am so happy remains,” says the former member of the Dean’s Business Advisory Council and the College of Business Alumni Association board.
