If it was a Monday night in the early to mid-2000s, it’s a good bet Eric Garneau could be found at Murphy’s Pub.
“The fondest memory I have of campus is Monday night at the back of Murphy’s after weekly improv at the Student Union,” says Garneau (BA ’05; English, philosophy).
“My obsessive fandom of Spicy Clamato and DeBono set me on the path to becoming a comedy nerd at an early age; I religiously went to those shows and then was lucky enough to hang out with the performers afterwards.
“Murphy’s was always the venue of choice. I didn’t even drink — I wasn’t 21! You can’t break the law! — but I would happily get a Diet Coke and some Irish nachos and enjoy the post-show glow with my favorite people on campus.
“Some of my comedy friends and I still make it a point to visit Murphy’s if we’re in the area. The nachos are as good as ever."
