Nothing against the education she received — it’s served the Boston math professor/artistic director well — but Hale Pinar Zengingonul’s happiest Illini memories had one thing in common:
“None of them are related to my studies,” says Zengingonul, who earned her Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the UI in 1997.
“My fondest memories are from the times I spent with my friends — swimming at the IMPE outdoor pool with my best friend, going to volleyball games to cheer on women’s team, going for long runs with my fellow runner friends, other grad students and professors.
“Also, meeting at Espresso Royale after working at the lab in the evenings.”
