During his four years at Illinois, Jason Kim made umpteen trips to the basement of the Undergraduate Library, at all hours of the day ... and night.
“The fact that it was 24 hours during finals week allowed me to spend some tiring but fruitful nights there,” says the creative director at Chicago’s House Productions (BS ’13, media and cinema studies).
“I remember going down and locking myself there for hours studying during finals or finishing a paper. Sometimes, I’d be inspired to watch a few French new wave or Italian neo-realist films on my laptop from the library’s archives dreaming of creating films of my own one day.
“Spending so much time at the library — then walking back to my apartment because the buses didn’t run that late, soaking up the moonlight in my study- and film-induced delirium — are some of my most precious memories at UIUC.”
