He now makes a living working at one of the world's most famous grassy fields — the second coming of the House That Ruth Built — but Paul Ward still longs for the Quad.
"It's the one campus spot that I will always carry with me," says Ward, who left C-U in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in recreation, sport and tourism and a master's in sport management, and six years later was working for the New York Yankees.
"The Quad is a special place for any former or current Illini. It’s a place to gather with friends, work on a paper, do some last-minute studying or just relax by yourself on a beautiful day.
“It’s one location at the U of I that I hope will continue to cross generations," says the former UI wheelchair basketball star, who for the last three years has been the Yankees' coordinator for disabled services and guest relations.
