As unforgettable weekends go, it’s tough to top Oct. 24-25, 1964 on Mike Reagen’s list.
"I was privileged to ‘work’ the press gate at the Illini vs. UCLA football game when Dick Butkus was playing and named Lineman of the Year by UPI. I got to see the game free," says the now-retired president and CEO of the Greater Naples (Fla.) Chamber of Commerce.
“Afterwards, I went to a crowded Kam’s for beer. The next morning, I went to mass at St. John’s Catholic Newman Center and saw Dick and his wife Helen receive communion.
"These events are among my fond Illini memories.”
