Ray Lantz

President | Carpet Advantage, Urbana | Class of 1977

When first-semester freshman Ray Lantz took his seat at Foellinger for Introduction to Anthropology, he remembers thinking this:

"There seemed to be more students in the class than number of people who lived in my hometown of Gibson City.  To say it was an eye-opener is an understatement," recalls the 1977 grad, now the president at Carpet Advantage of Urbana.

“I loved to walk from PAR through Illini Grove up to Treno’s on the southeast corner of Nevada and Goodwin. Because I was on a limited budget, their great prices allowed me to have a salad, a cup of refreshment or two, and have enough change left to stop next door for an ice cream cone."
