If it happened to Tyler Zimmerman at Illinois, it’s a good bet it happened at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.
“There, I sang on-stage in full makeup and costume in a UIUC School of Music opera production of ‘The Marriage of Figaro,’” says the Los Angeles-based UTC Aerospace Systems engineer (Ph.D. ’10, analytical chemistry).
“At the Krannert, I also sang for a memorial concert to remember the famous tenor Jerry Hadley. I enjoyed how the Intermezzo at the Krannert Center had 75-cent refills of cappuccino if you brought back the Krannert mug.”
As favorite C-U stops go, only Murphy’s Pub comes close on Zimmerman’s list.
“I participated in several university sponsored clubs — sailing club, Dancing Illini, secular student club — and they frequently chose Murphy’s as a place to hang out after club meetings. The Irish nachos were tasty, along with a good selection of beverages.”
