For future Chicago attorney Gerry Chico, there was nowhere like the Illini Union in the mid-1970s.
“I remember spending hours in the basement on the Illini Union studying for classes and exams," says the Chico & Nunes senior partner. "Then, during Christmas time, I’d move to the first floor of the Union to be near the Christmas decorations while I was studying for exams.
"That beautifully decorated area took a lot of the stress out of exam time. I recall the Union, and the holiday time there, fondly.”
