As postgame celebrations go, the hoot-and-hollerfest enjoyed by the women's basketball team after a 71-70 win over Seton Hall on Dec. 9, 2013 was one for the ages, says Sarah Hartwell, a starting guard on that team.
“During my first season at Illinois, we beat Seton Hall after being down by more than 20 points. It was one of those games where you feel like you are still going to win, even when the scoreboard says no way," says the three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, who's now working in HR at Nestle's New Jersey coffee and tea factory.
“Afterwards, we were in the locker room dancing to one of our pregame songs. When our coaches came in, we made a circle around Coach B (Matt Bollant), who was doing his best to dance on beat. I know we were all happy about the win, but I think we were more happy seeing Coach B dance.”
