For Neckopulos (’77), now the San Francisco-based executive director of banking for Ernst & Young, the spot is No. 2 on his list of favorite spaces.
No. 1? “Without question, Stan Wallace’s Gridiron Bar,” he says. “It was the hangout for me and my fraternity brothers. It is where I celebrated my 21st birthday — as the U of I closed that day for the first time many years due to weather. And my wife, Lynn, was in the Kappa Alpha Theta — 50 steps across the street from Stan’s.”
