John Aikens' spot is left field at various softball diamonds around town, where the then-postdoc researcher and now-Chicago biotech CEO played on a star-studded 1992 Office II squad.
"Other than playing ball and working long hours in the lab" as an aspiring biochemist under Professor Stephen Sligar, "our favorite events were the evenings we spent attending shows at the Krannert Center and most specifically the season tickets we had to the plays and opera performances," Aikens says.
"Usually, we would grab dinner at the Bombay Bicycle Club before the show and make it an evening. Maybe not the most raucous memories but there were some interesting performances — both on the field and stage.”
