John Andrews

Population biologist | Lincoln Park Zoo | Class of 2013

A toast to Murphy’s, the Campustown pub where lifelong friends and the occasional love connection were made.

Future Lincoln Park Zoo population biologist John Andrews ('13) experienced a little bit of both during his time on campus.

“This was our after-work watering hole we always went back to, where I first met some of my best friends in the world," he says. "It was always a good time, whether we were catching up to talk about work, relax after a long day of research or somehow rallying the whole bar to sing Toto’s ‘Africa’ at the top of our lungs.

“Most recently, I returned for the wedding of one of the friends I made from grad school. They were married in Champaign, and Murphy’s is where they met and where we all congregated before the ceremony.

"I didn’t leave with just a great degree, I left with a family.”
