“The spot on campus I most remember is my laboratory in the Burrill Hall addition. I loved doing experiments and was very rewarded by working in the lab with my outstanding undergraduates and graduate students," says the former NCAA champion mile runner, who went on to become the UI's vice chancellor for research.
“I like to think that our research on the neural control of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems had a significant impact.”
