It’s a tad on the “tattered” side but three decades after his final last call at Willy’s Illini Inn, Mike Riggs still has his Mug Club card.
“It was a badge of cold, frothy honor,” Riggs (BA ’86, secondary education) says from Denver, where runs his own consulting business and counts several household names as clients.
Willy’s, he remembers, “was a great hole-in-the-wall bar — just a few doors down from my fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi, on Fourth Street in Champaign.
"I spent a few to many nights there with friends playing pinball, listening to the word’s best jukebox — with real albums, remember those? — and just hanging out.”
