Sheila Johnson

Sheila Johnson

BET founding partner | WNBA team president | Class of 1970

When Sheila Johnson returns to campus in May to receive an honorary degree at commencement, you can be sure she'll swing by two of her favorite old haunts.

No. 1: the Tri Delta Sorority house. "Miss America was a member of this sorority. I remember smiling with pride when I would see her. She was a true beauty," says Johnson ('70), the BET co-creator and the first black woman to attain a reported net worth of $1 billion.

No. 2: “I think about the String Annex. As a music student, how can you not?" she says. "I had my lessons in that building, practiced my heart out and took my juries."
