By the time he enrolled at the UI, future Las Vegas TV meteorologist Ted Pretty was set on pursuing a career in television.
“However,” says the 1995 broadcast journalism grad, “there were two professors who really cemented broadcasting as my career path.
“Robin Kaler and Mitch Kazel were as passionate as I was about writing, reporting and television in general.
"I still remember their classes like it was yesterday. I was a kid from a small Illinois town of 2,000 people on the huge U of I campus and in a field that for some is very intimidating.
“Robin and Mitch gave me confidence and set the foundation of this would-be career path and I will never forget their influence on me.”
