Allison Guth

Head basketball coach | Yale University | Class of 2004

It figures: An Ivy League head coach’s favorite UI memory revolves around a building with “academic” in the title.

“My favorite memory of my time spent at the U of I was at Irwin Academic Center,” says Allison Guth, who’s in her third year leading Yale’s women’s basketball program.

The former Illini walk-on turned scholarship guard remembers “some of the best nights trying to grind out Professor Gotteil’s Macro Economics course while living it up with my teammates and best friends on the softball team. It was the moments we would laugh so hard we would cry in between trying to get our work done.

“Those friendships built through balancing our academic and athletic lives were the ones I truly cherish."
