An early-’80s Friday in the life of OpenCity chief technology officer Dave Arthurs:
— 11 a.m. Crash Internet Hall of Famer and UI Professor C.L. Liu’s lecture at the Electrical Engineering Building.
— 11:05 a.m. “His lectures would always start out with a joke,” Arthurs recalls. “Once the joke was delivered, we’d quietly exit the back of the auditorium for a quick lunch in Campustown.”
— After lunch: “Watch and lampoon the soap opera ‘All My Children’ at Cochrane’s bar on Wright Street.”
— 1 p.m. till dinner time back at the dorm: “Take advantage of Cochrane’s happy hour. The day was pretty much over by dinner."
