Pulitzer-winning reporter | Minneapolis Star Tribune | Class of 1982

As picturesque campus views go, it was tough to top the one Glenn Howatt had in the early '80s.

“I was fortunate enough to share an office in Davenport Hall with a view of the Quad. I was a grad student in geography. The view provided insight into the diversity of campus life," says the Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter for the Minneapolis Star Tribune, who earned master's degrees from the UI in urban geography and journalism.

“It was also a place of gathering. When John Lennon was assassinated, some were drawn to the Quad spontaneously.”
