A toast to Timpone's, from the author/speaker/financial wellness advocate who spent a lot of time there back in the mid-'80s.
"It had great thin pizza and rich coffee," Ilyce Glink recalls. "It was a great spot to sit, meet with friends, whatever. They also had amazing jazz.
"I played with one of the U of I jazz bands and we used to play there. But they had other great jazz musicians as well. So it was a great late-night spot.
"Other than that, I spent a lot of time in the third-floor piano practice rooms in the music hall. I treasured having the key to that floor, as those piano practice rooms were locked."
