No matter where you look, you’re bound to find traces of Alma Gottlieb’s teachings in every last piece of Mwenda Ntarangwi’s work.
“I have fond memories of UIUC for many reasons but the most is my academic experience as a graduate student in anthropology,” says the CEO of the Commission for University Education, who earned his master’s (1995) and Ph.D. (1998) from the UI, both in cultural anthropology.
“Dr. Alma Gottlieb made a lasting impression on me and my work. She was a patient, careful reader of all my work, offering very good, candid edits, and reflections.
“She was also a great human being. I became who I am today as a scholar because of her mentorship and guidance.”
