It was at Illinois where Neil Kane ('85) discovered his love for engineering, entrepreneurship and everything on the menu at Taco John’s.
"It was a fast food place on Green Street, right near the former theater, and it was my hangout at night," says the director of undergraduate entrepreneurship at Michigan State. "My friends would all congregate there after studying, or going to the bars, or whatever.
"My friends and I pledged to take up a collection on their behalf if they ever were about to go out of business. Alas, they left Champaign" but returned recently, though not to their old Campustown home.
