Tim Hassinger’s senior year just so happened to coincide with Mike White’s grandest as Illinois football coach, making 1983 one fine fall to be on campus.
“It was the Rose Bowl year for our football team," says Hassinger, now president and CEO of Dow AgroSciences. "All of the activities before each of the games — and then the game itself — was a huge highlight for me.
"And we won all of our home games that year," including two whoppers two weeks apart — 17-13 over Ohio State on Oct. 15 and 16-6 over Michigan on Oct. 29, both before crowds of 70,000-plus at Memorial Stadium.
