Zaldwaynaka Scott

President | Chicago State | Class of 1980

Long before she became one of the 12 presidents running four-year public universities in Illinois, Zaldwaynaka Scott was a member of the famed Divine Nine.

That’s her second from the right in the photo, lined up in formation at what remains her favorite spot on the UI campus.

“The campus location that evokes the most memories is the what we called ‘the yard,’” says the Chicago State president and 1980 journalism grad, who goes by ‘Z’ for short.

“It was behind the Student Union and where all the Divine Nine hosted their outdoor performances.”
