Henry Petroski

Civil engineering professor | Distinguished Alumni Award | Class of 1968

Just as Wright Street divides Champaign and Urbana, Green “was the line of demarcation between the College of Engineering and the rest of campus, and we engineering graduate students crossed it at our peril to take advanced math and foreign-language classes,” says Duke University civil engineering professor Henry Petroski (MS ’64, Ph.D. ’68), a UI College of Engineering distinguished alumni award winner.

“I have straddled Green streets throughout my career, and the one that runs through Urbana and Champaign remains my paradigm.”
