Most of Walter Young’s UI highlights came while catching — or, early on — throwing passes at Memorial Stadium.
But a close second-favorite C-U spot would be his old digs — the Melrose Apartments on Lincoln, just off I-74.
“It was the first place on campus that we lived, in the summer before our freshman year,” says Young, now in trade show operations, at GCJ Management of Chicago.
“We didn’t have much while we were there but there were a few of us incoming freshmen and we had a lot of fun that summer. It was our unofficial introduction to adulthood.”
