For future major league pitcher Jeff Innis (New York Mets, 1987-93), the place is the the Armory track, where he first laid eyes on his first love.
“The baseball team was practicing in the Amory during the winter and I saw a girl running around the track with her friend," he remembers all these years later. "I was completely captivated by her — so much so that I got up the gumption to ask her out.
"I never married her but we dated and had a wonderful four or five years together. We’re still good friends today.”
