Mark Hogan (BA ’73, business administration/management) can still see the faces of guardsmen who lined Armory Street, not long after the May 4, 1970, massacre at Kent State.
“They seemed to be our age,” recalls the former UI football manager, who now sits on Toyota’s board of directors.
You had to be there to believe it, he says.
Fortunately for him, Hogan wasn’t.
“We we’re so caught up in spring football with our new coach, Bob Blackman, we didn’t get involved in any of the protests,” he says.
